THIRTEEN HURTS (pleasant view,CO)
Thirteen Hurts is an experimental noise project that utilizes modified guitar pedals and handmade sound source devices to create a harsh noise soundscape.
The earliest experimental recordings occurred in 1977, with sporadic experimental output burbling beneath the surface of efforts to create "normal" music. Years of performing and recording within the Rock and Progressive genres, it was not until 1999 and the formation of subcutaneous studios that the first full recording of experimental music took place, with exclusive usage of a Serge Modular. The following years led to soundtracks for both a documentary on the Lamborghini Miura and an independent film titled Medium Gray. This was followed by years of dormancy which eventually led to the development of the Thirteen Hurts/13Hz concept and new recordings with live performances. The live shows focus on a performance of three individual pieces, giving the audience a wide spectrum sampling of what the sound of Thirteen Hurts represents. This will be the 4th appearance of Thirteen Hurts at the Norcal Noisefest.

KOMPRIPIOTR (ITALY)
In the early 90s KOMPRIPIOTR started working with electronic soundexperiments and has since then covered the whole spectrum between sound art, actionism and noise. His diverse and unconventional performances and installations resemble a dialogue with the unpredictable and combine so-called “sound accidents” with improvisation and spontaneity, aleatoric in generally. KOMPRIPIOTR aims at composing and deconstructing on multiple levels. Most of his concept-based radical expression forms are performances/actions with the focus on noise. Never knowing what is expecting us. For shure a strong impact nest in his abstract/extreme works. This will be his first appearance at NF.

X-BAX (los angeles)
X-Bax is the (mostly) solo experimental project of Phil Dole. Phil is primarily know as a member of the Chicago-based power-ambient group Chord, whose structured one-note-per-player approach has produced several excellent albums that explore various aspects of tone and texture, discarding superfluous concepts such as melody and harmony. This will be Phil's first time to Norcal Noisefest.

CHESTNUT (los angeles)
Based in Los Angeles, Chestnut, a sound duo comprised of Daniel Watkins and Christina Santa Cruz, traverses between sparse traditionalism, and avant experimentation. Their fixation of deconstruction of medium often extends to the very instruments themselves.
They are named after a horse that doesn't exist.
This will be their first NF appearance.
