Wade Driver Biography: Drums, Guitar, Anything and EverythingGrowing up on PUNK ROCK in HOUSTON, I took frequent trips to REAL RECORDS, the PUNK record store. Next door was a tiny little place called THE JAZZ ROOM. I wandered in one day and on impulse bought a copy of ADIEU LITTLE MAN by FRANK WRIGHT and MUHAMMED ALI. I LOVED it...it was more punk than PUNK! After many years of MORE PUNK ROCK and heavy doses of COLTRANE, my interest in FREE IMPROVISATION was renewed by hearing HAN BENNINK. I immediately joined up with multi-instrumentalist, WALTER DANIELS, playing free improvisation and stripped down guitarless BLUES. We released a number of limited issue CDs including, TACHYCARDIA with ECFA leader, CARL SMITH and a 7" record in ITALY on SHAKE YER ASS RECORDS. Over the years I have collaborated with EUGENE CHADBOURNE, WALTER DANIELS, DAVE DOVE, THE SUDDEN IMPULSE GROUP, MARGIE OSBORNE, SCOTTY McLURE, THE REACTION FREEDOM MACHINE, THE B-SIDE DANCERS, CARL SMITH, poet KEN ROACH, INSTANT w/ dancer, LIZ BYRNE, THE DIG QUINTET,as well as solo performances. I was awarded a scholarship to BERKLEE SCHOOL OF MUSIC in BOSTON but ended up studying music at SAM HOUSTON STATE UNIVERSITY. I have been living in the BAY AREA off and on since 1989 performing solo at beat photographer, LARRY KEENAN'S opening at the MICAELA GALLERY, also with INSTANT, THE REACTION FREEDOM MACHINE, and most recently the FREE JAZZ/FREE PUNK trio, LIBERTAS Walter Daniels and Wade Driver 2/4 The Reaction Freedom Machine Instant Libertas Phone: 415 503 0183 Email: blackbolt_23503@yahoo.com |
