Eneidi has been at the forefront of creative jazz for over twenty-five years. originally from the east bay, he moved to New York in 1981 where he quickly became involved in the avant-garde creative jazz scene playing and recording with such stars as Don Cherry, Bill Dixon, Sunny Murray, Rashied Ali and Cecil Taylor. He appears on over twenty-five recordings and is the producer on his own Botticelli Records label which he founded in 1987. Since returning to the Bay Area in 1997, he has been a leader in the Bay Area's creative music scene while continuing to perform on a national and international platform. Hooker has been involved in the free-jazz/outside-jazz scenes for over thirty years. He is a "rare breed of musician," wrote Neil Strauss in Option Magazine. "[His] most recent recordings transcend the boundaries that composed, improvised, and experimental music has set for themselves." Describing his latest album, The Black Mask, Hooker said, "The Black Mask was orginially a concept presented at the Knitting Factory New York CityS
which included musicians I feel are important to the growth of my music. I have performed with many - and this is an inspiring exhibit of those."
LIVEART will be Hooker's only Bay Area appearance.
