Noggin is the Seattle-based duo of Michael Griffen and Eric Ostrowski. From beginnings exploring the explosive and volatile nature of electric "free screech," Noggin has evolved over the years to embrace a wide dynamic range, moving towards an increasing number of sets exploring the voice-like implications of two unamplified violins. Their acoustic sounds are just as difficult and intense as their electric playing; just quieter. The audience is invited to come in closer and get intimate with the sounds and performers.
"...Some of the most arresting music I have heard all year." - Chris Delaurenti, The Stranger
Henry Kuntz is one of our favorite tenor saxophone players. His solo playing combines a keen melodic ear and a deep compositional sense to produce ecstatic musical experiences that draw energy from the aether and filter it through the fruits of his musical travels in the Americas and Oceanea. Did I say he's one of our favorites? It's a pleasure to have him on tonight's program.
