John Schott's Typical Orchestra

John Schott's Typical Orchestra is a camp holler, old-time revival meeting, medicine show, sawdust on the floor, stompin' church basement celebration of American musics. Synthesizing folk, blues, jazz, reggae, funk, and the avant-garde, the band and its frequent guests play original music sprinkled with strange covers of songs from the early years of recordings. Some times it's hard to tell which is which.

John Schott, guitars and ukulele - and vocal warbling
Ben Goldberg (New Klezmer Trio), bass clarinet
Devin Hoff (Nels Cline, Carla Bozulich), bass
Ches Smith (Good For Cows, Theory of Ruin), drums
