The internationally acclaimed Joel Futterman/Ike Levin/Alvin Fielder Trio make a rare Bay Area appearance for two concerts on April 9 and April 11 at 8pm. Pianist Joel Futterman is recognized as one of the foremost innovators in improvised music today. Master percussionist Alvin Fielder, one of the original founders of the Chicago-based AACM, has been one of the true leaders in improvisational music for over 4 decades. Multi-reed player Ike Levin has performed with many of the leading improvisational music artists. He combines expressionist blowing with a strong reverance for the roots of jazz. The Trio is dedicated to exploring new directions in the art of "in-the-moment" collectively improvised music.
