SAM RIVERS TO APPEAR AT THE JAZZ HOUSE!!!
The Jazz House is proud to announce that on Saturday, April 10th, legendary jazz great Sam Rivers will be appearing in two shows at The Jazz House!
Sam Rivers is known throughout the world for his role in the history of jazz. As the "All Music Guide" sums it up, "Few, if any, free jazz saxophonists have approached music with the same degree of intellectual rigor as Sam Rivers." After playing with the likes of Cecil Taylor and Archie Shepp, Rivers moved to New York in 1964 where he was immediately hired by Miles Davis. In that same year, Rivers recorded his first piece for Blue Note records titled “Fuchsia Swing Song”, and as they say…the rest is history. Rivers continued collaborations with the likes of Bobby Hutcherson, Tony Williams, Herbie Hancock, and a series of extremely popular recordings with bassist Dave Holland. Visit his website at http://www.samrivers.com.
Do not miss your opportunity to experience Mr. Rivers in the intimate setting of The Jazz House. Rivers will be performing solo pieces as well as sharing stories of his experiences through the years in the jazz world.
