Charming Hostess

Charming Hostess
(nerdy-sexy-commie Jewish-African diaspora text-heavy girl-group) will be singing music from their upcoming Tzadik release, "Sarajevo Blues,” based on the book by Semezdin Mehmedinovic. Written during the siege of Sarajevo in 1992, "Sarajevo Blues" is about how people in a cosmopolitan city love, resist, work, go to cafes, and live under fire. Some of the poems/micro-essays/journalistic entries have explicitly to do brutality and nationalism, while some have to do with flies, or Walter Benjamin, or the ridiculousness of communist bureaucratic cant.

Charming Hostess is: Jewlia Eisenberg, Marika Hughes, Cynthia Taylor
