1) Electronico/Politico -- Scott Looney and Dave Slusser (high and low tech electronics) 30 min. EP is focused on the sayings and quotes from various political figures from the news, using these as a launchpad for improvisational deconstructions which s serve as a twisted reflection, revealing the more sinister and insidious nature of these officials and of our empire, hidden within jingoistic politics and "patriotic" soundbytes.

2) Hideous Dream (noise) 30 minutes
c.j. reaven borosque feedback/vinyl, rent romus zither/shortwave/process, jim ryan processed kilimba, flute & voice . . . Their sound evokes disturbing mind-bending feelings that create images of warped landscapes. They touch on the unconscious, the demented and the political.

3) Forward Energy (free jazz) 35 minutes
Jim Ryan alto/tenor sax, Carolyn Torrente alto sax, Lisa Mezzacappa contrabass, Andrew Wilshusen drums . . . Forward Energy has been playing high energy free jazz in the bay area since 1997 and have five CD’s out, the latest CD Where Are They? came out in June 2004.

4) Twine -- (cello & electro-acoustic instruments) 30 min. Twine uses electroacoustic percussion instruments of Tom Nunn and electric cello of Doug Carroll in creating unique free improvisations.

5) The Left Coast Improv Group (LCIG) 30 minutes
LCIG members are: Doug Carroll electric cello, Ron Heglin trombone/voice, Jeff Hobbs violin, cornet, clarinet, sax, and so on, Scott R. Looney electronics, Bob Marsh violin/tap shoes/other stuff, Jim Ryan processed kalimba/voice/flute/horn, Karen Stackpole gongs/percussion/kit . . . LCIG was formed in early 2001 and has two CDs available . . . The emphasis of the group's approach is on relaxation, freedom, and listening, rather than individual virtuosity which, nevertheless, underlies the ensemble as an unfailing support for its cohesive expressiveness. “It absorbs the listener gently, never imposing its views. The group gels together marvelously -- it turned into a first-rate improv unit in the course of a year. Apr/May 2002 gathers the best elements of a thriving music scene -- Highly Recommended.” Francois Couture, the All-Music Guide. "TLCIG creates boldly cut, yet delightfully subtle, gems of spontaneous musical composition." -- Saftig Himlichbaden: UberKritik von Outgrabe.

6) All Players Together for another 30 minutes or so
In keeping with Southern Exposure’s celebratory theme The Way We Work (Together) and NPR’s policy of Neighborhood Radio, the finale of this improv afternoon will bring everybody into a large ensemble . . .
