Marielle Jakobsons - Violin/Laptop

8:30 pm Nihil Communication with Andre Custodio

Freeform electronic experimental music combined with trace elements of techno, with sampled snippets of world music, avant-garde, and various speech recordings.

Marielle Jakobsons cooks supercollider codedrone soup using her laptop computer and drawing from a childhood full of classical violin lessons. After receiving a BA in "Music Performance and Biology", she turned to studying contemporary music full time, drawing likenesses between electronic sounds/techniques to the fields of neuroscience and biochemistry.

Dark and droning sound sculptures that evolve slowly over time describe Nihil Communication. Andre Custodio's solo semi-improvised electroacoustic music are meditative spaces that incorporate noise. Nihil Communication may be comprised of Tom Nunn's T-Rodimba, synthesizers, hand percussion and digital effects.

Matt Davignon is an experimental musician living in Oakland,
California. Since 1993, he has developed his own unique style of music, which focuses largely on textures, arrhythmic patterns and musical imperfections. Over the years he has worked extensively with live sound collage, consumer-grade electronics, prepared acoustic guitar, real-time sampling/looping,
experimental turntablism, field recordings and real instruments. Since 2004, he has been working almost exclusively with a drum machine, using what he's learned from all the previous fields to create an organic array of drones, gurgles and frantic passages.

Cost: $5/8/10
