Fred FrithRova:Arts is pleased to present Improv:21, a series of "informances" on 21st-Century musical improvisation led by master improvisers from the Bay Area and beyond. The first Improv:21, features cross-genre guitar legend
Fred Frith, whose creative approach to music was depicted in the documentary Step Across the Border. In discussion with Derk Richardson, and using recorded examples, Frith will focus on two subjects: improvisation and the recording medium, and organization and form in improvisation with large forces. This will be a chance to hear how Frith works in recording such film scores as Rivers and Tides.
