Marco Cappelli performs pieces from his "Extreme Guitar Project" which juxtaposes the traditional (six nylon strings) against the possibility of something 'other' (altered tunings, noise, metal strings, electronics) in a series of works written especially for him. Cappelli studied at Conservatorio di S. Cecilia in Rome and at the Musik Akademie in Basel with Oscar Ghiglia. He has collaborated with many artists including Anthony Coleman, Butch Morris, Jim Pugliese, Marc Ribot, and Elliott Sharp to name a few. His recordings have been released on the Italian label TDS as well as the prestigious American label Mode Records. He currently is based in New York. This concert is presented with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute of San Francisco.
