Thursday, October 25th
David Boyce, aka Osiris Black Edgar Kenyatta, aka Oskar Phat, aka Dogon 318 is one of the founding members of Bay Area acid jazz legends, Broun Fellinis. With his amazing array of pedals, and electronics, which is aptly named Black Edgar's Musicbox, David is considered by many to be a true master, and impressively he is more powerful behind his musicbox, redefining the kosmos of sound for each performance.
Marc Cary is known and respected universally on the music scene as an innovative and gifted keyboardist whose musical expressions are consistently fresh, unrestrained and inspiring. In 2000, Mr. Cary was the winner of the first Annual Billboard/BET .Best New Jazz Artist Award. Marc is also known on the underground dance music scene as producer, Marco Polo. He keeps many irons in the fire with acoustic and electronic jazz, dance, world music and funk. Cary relishes in the freedom to grow and change within his core musical identity. As Marc says, "I'm not moving away from tradition, I'm expanding."
Founder of the critically acclaimed SF based Improvised Jazz Ensemble The Supplicants, Sameer Gupta is quickly becoming a Bay Area phenomenon. He has studied percussion for most of his life beginning in Tokyo, Japan 1985, and since then has consistently placed himself in many challenging musical environments. From bebop to avant-garde jazz, and European classical percussion to North Indian classical tabla playing; Sameer chooses to have a mature relationship with music from a perspective that now bridges several continents. He has the honor of being musically associated with many great artists such as Pandit Chitresh Das, Marc Cary, VidyA, Grachan Moncur III, Kosmic Renaissance, Vijay Iyer, Marcus Shelby, Pandit Anindo Chatterjee, Parijat Desai Company, and many others.
