Other Perspectives in Improvised Music

Tonight’s show is being presented only for listeners who are looking for inspiration and joy.
Set 1: Tips: 14 Aphorisms by Georges Braque consists of songs by the late Steve Lacy, arranged here by soprano saxist Bruce Ackley (Rova) and magician Phillip Greenlief, tonight on alto sax, and vocalist extraordinaire Aurora Josephson, whose new release with Henry Kaiser, singing the music of Albert Ayler, is blowing critics away.
Set 2: Kihnoua is the name of saxophonist Larry Ochs’ (Rova) newest band, music created specifically with the fiery vocalist Dohee Lee in mind; tonight featuring master percussionist William Winant and for this show only, from New York City, the amazing Korean cellist Okkyung Lee.

Cost: $12
