E. Doctor Smith is a drummer, producer, electronic percussionist and recording artist with Edgetone Records, who has performed with the likes of Brian Eno, Madonna, Bon Lozago, Howard Levy, Trey Gunn, Fareed Haque and many others. Doc is also the inventor of the percussion controller known as the "Drummstick", and currently performs and tours using the "Zendrum EXP", a custom made MIDI percussion controller made in Atlanta, Georgia.

“True Fire” with bansurist John Wubbenhorst and Doc is the sequel to John’s 2006 album “True Water” with percussionist Ken Anoff. This album features music by John's Indian jazz group Facing East. Special guests include bassists Steve Zerlin, and Jason Everett, keyboardist Mel McMurrin, violinist Radhika Iyer and vocalist Mahesh Vinayakram! The digital downloads of the album and CD will both be available for beginning January 2020!
Doc will be recording the 30th Anniversary of the quartet “Feat of Clay” with trumpeter Eric Dahlman, 7 string bassist Edo Castro Woodhouse and guitarist Peter McKibben in San Francisco, CA in March of 2020!!
