Ernesto Díaz-Infante pocket strings
The focus and structure of Pocket Strings is based on improvising to Derek Bailey’s "Drop Me Off At 96th" on one earbud with a 'pocket strings', a practice tool for guitarists that was created to help build finger strength and calluses but nevertheless is made of real strings, real frets and a strum-pad for rhythm. I realized that it also sufficed as its own musical instrument, and this recording is the product of that experiment. [E D-I]
