Serving emerging musicians as well as those long-overlooked by label representation, Isotope Records was conceived as a visionary approach to presenting artists of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Rather than pigeonhole musical styles into rigid categories, Isotope strives to embody the ever-changing musical landscape by presenting innovative new artists who bridge styles of world, jazz, rock, hip-hop, and electronic music.


Boldly introducing themselves in 1999, Isotope unleashed its flagship recording of the dynamic improvisational group The Supplicants. As the name of their debut album implies, 1st Encounter is a fully unrehearsed and spontaneous collaboration of three inventive and imaginative musicians.


Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Isotope Records first extended its welcoming hand to those musicians it found to possess the inherent qualities of musical expression: creativity, spontaneity, fertility, openness, and vibrant energy. The label has now already expanded to the fertile grounds of New York in adoption of its creative music-seeking mantra. True to its mission, Isotope Records plans to incorporate and unite artists across the country and abroad.
