San Francisco-based Thomas Dimuzio is one of those unsung artistic figures whose influence and abilities have substantially outstripped his visibility. Composer, collaborator, experimental electronic musician, multi-instrumentalist, improvisor, sound designer and mastering engineer - Dimuzio has been busy doing his thing(s) since the late 1980's, but is still only known to a small circle of electronic music enthusiasts. A true sonic alchemist who can seemingly create music events out of almost anything, Dimuzio's listed sound sources on his various releases include everything from "modified 10 speed bicycle" and "resonating water pipe" to short-wave radios, field recordings, loops, samplers and even normal instruments such as clarinet and trumpet. And while his wide range of musical interests make it impossible to pin a label on him, Dimuzio clearly has an insider's knowledge of older experimental musical forms such as musique concrete and electroacoustic, as well as more current dark ambient, noise and post-techno styles.
Dimuzio’s pioneering and innovative use of live sampling, synthesis, signal processing, custom crossfade looping and algorithmic mixing fuels a synergy of man and machine in his live performances. Intercepted signal feeds from his collaborators, as well as wild sources of MIDI-controlled feedback, modular synthesizers, circuit-bent toys, ambient microphones on the streets, et al become integrated as sound sources within Dimuzio’s system of live interactive electronics.

John Davis is a Northern California musician and filmmaker building on the relationship between moving image and sound through live performance and studio-based works. Encouraging sensory response through familiar and unexpected uses of traditional media, John employs chance and collaborative exchange as regular means for creative expression.
As a musician, John incorporates prepared instruments, phonography, magnetic tape manipulations, short-wave radio and electronic musical circuits as a means for encapsulating listeners within deeply crafted sonic environments. He has released music on the Root Strata, Digitalis, Students of Decay, Bimodal Press and Peasant Magik labels in the US. John also collaborates with Collin McKelvey as one half of the multimedia project IN/S.
As far afield as Davis may go in his works, the listener never feels completely removed from some hint of melodic structure. Often it’s vague, more a memory than something tangible, but it still exists. Paul Clipson is a San Francisco-based filmmaker who often collaborates with sound artists and musicians on films, live performances, and installations. His work has been exhibited and performed both nationally and internationally at such festivals as the New York Film Festival, Edinburgh Film Festival, and the Rotterdam International Film Festival. His Super 8 and 16mm films aim to bring to light subconscious visual preoccupations that reveal themselves while working in a stream of consciousness manner, combining densely layered, in-camera edited studies of figurative and abstract environments, in a process that encourages unplanned-for results, responding to and conversing with the temporal qualities of musical composition and live performance. http://www.withinmirrors.org/
